Horse Whisperer comes to Castle Leslie

World renowned horse whisperer Franklin Levinson is making an appearance at Castle Leslie Estate, Co. Monaghan on 23-25th May 2008 to share his knowledge of natural horsemanship. Franklin’s mission is to enhance and enrich the horse/human relationship wherever and whenever possible by teaching humans how to compassionately and effectively interact with their horses.

The weekend starts on the Friday evening (23rd May) at 8pm with a demonstration by Franklin entitled ‘Inside the Horse’s Mind’. Spectators will take a seat in the viewing gallery of the new indoor arena and watch the maestro in action.  Franklin will demonstrate the importance of developing trust with your horse to ensure lasting success.  Dominance, coercion and inducing fear in a horse are what many think is the way to deal with horses. However, the truth is, to be consistently good with horses at a high level requires us humans to come forward with our best qualities and attributes, as well as acquired knowledge. 

Franklin will demonstrate and teach effective training techniques. Many of these methods have been around for a long time. What sets Franklin apart from the majority of other trainers, riding instructors and clinicians teaching today is his ability to teach 'why' these techniques are effective, the reasons they may not be working with a particular horse, and what can be done to resolve those issues.

Understanding that problems with horses have as much to do with the human as the horse, and sometimes more, is a key factor. On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of May, horse enthusiasts can avail of Franklin’s expertise by taking part in a one hour group session with their own horse/pony. With a maximum number of four in a group, participants will get one-to-one attention with Franklin where one can discuss their individual difficulties with their horses and get advice and training techniques to improve communication with your equine friend and achieve successful results.

The evening demonstration is priced at €25(adults) and €15 (children under 14 yrs). There is a €5 discount for pre-booking your tickets and early booking is advisable. The group session is €60 per person and this must be booked in advance. Stabling is available in the Equestrian centre at €25 per night.
